The Sufi Rockers

      Junoon started their singing career in early 90s. Their vocalist Ali Azmat came from a band whose name was Jupiters and who was one of those bands who introduced pop music in Pakistan and also they together gave a very hit song which is still a favorite song of lot of people that is Dosti (friendship).

The most important member of this rock group is Salman Ahmad, who left his old band that is Vital signs when it was on it’s peak, in search of rock music. Brian is a lead guitarist and an American national, is the third and last member of the Sufi rockers.

Junoon are rightly famous as the Sufi rockers, Sufi if translated in English means mystic. Lyrics of Junoon`s every song are mystic and mostly these lyrics are of some famous mystic poet like Baba Bulle Shah (Junoon`s second last album was also dedicated to Baba Bulle Shah). Junoon`s basic concept is to convey the message of God in their own mode.

Junoon are very famous not only in Pakistan but through out Asia. One can watch channels like Mtv and Star playing their songs. Their international fame can be judged by the fact that recently they have done concert with Leading rock bands like Mettalica and Pearl Jam, so Junoon have now shown that they world class rockers.

Junoon have added a new dimension to the rock music and that is the addition of the Tabla (the eastern drum) to the rock world. They have mixed the eastern drum with the western drum and believe me that one loves this kind of rock music, also this kind of music is totally new to the rock world and I am sure that rock lovers all across the world are going to like it.

Junoon at the moment are Pakistan’s most famous band. Recently Junoon have done a lot of live performances through out Pakistan, they also performed in a Jam-packed stadium in Karachi under flood lights, the atmosphere was so spectacular that one can not explain it in words.

Junoon`s last three albums have all proved very successful for them, and have taken them to new heights and now Junoon are flying high in the sky.
